Can Intelligence
Become Wisdom?
Knowing more expands possibility. Wisdom asks what should be done, who may be affected and when restraint is the more intelligent act.
Question boundary
Capability is not
its own compass.
A system can predict accurately, persuade effectively or optimize efficiently while pursuing harmful goals. BQ006 separates intelligence from wisdom and asks how capability becomes accountable to beings, relationships and consequences.
Three layers
Data becomes knowledge.
Action reveals wisdom.
Information
What is available to be known: observations, stories, measurements, records and inherited knowledge.
Intelligence
The capacity to learn, model, infer, create, adapt and solve problems. Capability alone does not choose a worthy aim.
Wisdom
Discernment expressed through context, humility, consequences, restraint, relationship and service.

Recognise dignity, difference and reciprocal obligation.

Face uncomfortable evidence and act when protection is needed.

Name uncertainty, limitations, conflicts and mistakes.
Wisdom
Apply knowledge in the right context and remain willing to learn.
Humility
Remember that no person, model or worldview contains the whole.
Truth
Seek coherence among the teachings while staying accountable to reality.
Four tests for applied wisdom
Before asking
“Can we?” ask “Should we?”
Consequences
Does the decision reduce avoidable suffering without exporting hidden harms to others or the future?
Consent
Can affected beings understand, question, refuse or help shape what is being done?
Plural knowledge
Were evidence, lived experience, cultural knowledge and dissent heard without pretending they are equivalent?
Reversibility
Can the decision be corrected when evidence changes, or has intelligence made itself unaccountable?
