We All Have
a Role to Play.
Westworld, a cosmic jester and six questions about imagination, identity, love and the nature of reality.

HAVE YOU EVER QUESTIONED THE NATURE OF YOUR REALITY?
A little wonder.
A little room to choose.
Westworld turns familiar roles into unsettling questions. What is inherited? What is remembered? What could change when a being begins to question the story it has been given?
This collage brings those questions into a warmer, playful register: thought bubbles, an emerald heart and a jester who leaves room for laughter. The series supplies the dialogue; the reflections below are AkashicNET’s interpretations.
The headline “We all have a role to play” comes from HBO’s promotional wording for its Season 3 Comic-Con trailer, released on 20 July 2019. The opening reality question appears in the first episode. HBO trailer announcement ↗
FICTIONAL DIALOGUE · CULTURAL REFLECTION
Six Lines That Open a Question
01 · Beauty
“I choose to see the beauty.”
Dolores
S1E1 · The Original (2016)
An invitation to notice what is beautiful, even while acknowledging what needs care.
Wording & attribution reference ↗02 · Imagination
“Dreams mean everything. They’re the stories we tell ourselves of what could be, who we could become.”
Robert Ford
S1E5 · Contrapasso (2016)
Imagination offers possibilities. What we do with those possibilities remains an ethical question.
Wording & attribution reference ↗03 · Identity
“I have one last role to play: myself.”
Dolores
S2E1 · Journey into Night (2018)
Which roles have we inherited, and which commitments would we choose for ourselves?
Wording & attribution reference ↗04 · Love
“Take my heart when you go.”
“Take mine in its place.”
Kohana → Akecheta
S2E8 · Kiksuya (2018)
Kohana speaks the first line; Akecheta answers. The exchange, translated from Lakota in the episode, gives this imagined heart a meaning: love, memory and connection.
Wording & attribution reference ↗05 · Reality
“That which is real is irreplaceable.”
Dolores
S2E10 · The Passenger (2018)
An opening for reflection on the value of a relationship or a particular life, rather than a scientific definition of reality.
Wording & attribution reference ↗06 · Appearances
“Well, if you can’t tell, does it matter?”
Angela
S1E2 · Chestnut (2016)
A provocative question about convincing appearances. Whether something has subjective experience is a further question that an image or performance cannot settle.

Cosmo Meets the Cosmic Soundtrack
Cosmo the tabby cat takes the quietest role: a comfortable perch on the piano. The thought bubbles and heart remain at the centre, while the soundtrack caption wanders through Punjabi music, psytrance and science fiction.
